Sources

voirIQ is built on public records. This is where each part comes from, with the credit each source asks for. voirIQ is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.

Railroad Commission of Texas

Wells, drilling permits and pending applications, completion filings and wellbore records, well tests, directional surveys and lease production reports, from the Commission’s public data sets and its online filing records. The Commission reports production by lease; voirIQ’s figures for each well are its own estimates, allocated from those reports, and are labelled as estimates wherever they appear.

FracFocus

Frac job details (fluid and proppant volumes, proppant type, fluid system, suppliers and job dates) derived from the FracFocus Chemical Disclosure Registry’s public disclosures. Totals, estimates and per-foot rates are voirIQ’s own, worked out from those disclosures.

County appraisal districts

Mineral owners and values (appraised, or assessed where a roll gives only that), from the certified mineral rolls Texas county appraisal districts publish, in the counties where voirIQ shows ownership. The ownership section names the district and the roll’s year. An owner who filed to keep an address private is shown as withheld.

Copernicus Sentinel-2

New drilling pads seen from orbit, in Sentinel-2 imagery from the European Union’s Copernicus programme. Each sighting carries its notice: “Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data”, with the years of imagery used.
